Welcome 2014! I am happy to have 2013 behind me. The last half of the year was a tumultuous mess of workaholism coupled with the inability to get rid of the emotional bogeyman (men) who are ever-present beside me. Get thee behind me and away from here! 🙂 That said, as I was making fresh scones for breakfast this morning (because making home-made food is a good way to ring in a new year), my eldest son called out that he saw a wasp hovering about the fireplace. We hustled out to see if that was true only to find an ash covered bee limping along the floor beneath the hearth. I was excited. This was the first creature to be seen in 2014. For many, the first creature you see is a message for how to spend the year. A kind of random magic (or not) about what you should think about and/or experience.
According to many sites and the Ted Andrews book Animal-Speak, Bees represent Fertility and the “Honey of Life”. I was pretty happy about that. I do think the fact the poor bee was covered in ash may be a notice to my Self to be careful not to cover prosperity thinking with sooty negative thoughts. The bee asks me today: “Are you taking time to savor the honey of your endeavors, or are you a workaholic?” (337)
Enough said. Time to recognize that sweetness is all around me. Slow it down.
Happy New Year to all! May it bring you sweetness and honey each day of this year!
